  • So, when you eat out, how much should you pay for the quality of food and how much should you pay for the ambiance/views? For example, would you pay a premium for the views from the top of Komtar if the food was average? A shoutout to Hedges Liang for his review on FB about Tsunami Village Cafe. My mum saw it and we went to try it with my uncle tonight. Firstly, parking is limited and you have to park on the main road. It’s close to the floating blue mosque. A word of warning - the entrance doesn’t look very promising. In fact, you walk through what appears to be a mechanic’s shop but the big blue signs outside assure you that you have the right place. You then go through a large restaurant area where you can hear the kitchen hard at work However, keep going and it opens out into a wonderful view of the sea and the mainland across the straits of Malacca. A wonderful place too to view the sunset and I’ve shared some photos. I’m normally all about the food but I do think the view at Tsunami makes it special The menu is extensive and in fact reasonably priced. There is lots of fresh seafood. My favourite dishes were the baked crab, prawns in Assam curry and Teochew style steamed fish. In fact, all delicious and importantly for Malaysians to know, there’s a tap and soap to wash your hands after peeling the crabs Only slightly odd thing is the name of the restaurant but it sparked a conversation about what we were all doing on Boxing Day 2004. Happily the thing making waves tonight was the great food and views

  • Food is great! The fried threadfin is delicious. Thr chilli crab is unlike the style from singapore, on the sweeter side. Good to try the manti prawn too. Seafood are generally fresh.

  • Tsunami Village Seafood is a fantastic spot for fresh local seafood. The beachfront setting gives it a very relaxed, laid-back vibe, perfect for enjoying a casual meal by the sea. The food was excellent—authentic local seafood fare, cooked to perfection. A great place to unwind and savour Penang’s coastal flavours.

  • Location is just right beside the floating mosque. Variety of seafood available. The crab with roe was RM160/kg, crab was perfectly baked, tasted excellent. The fried fish was really good, our whole family enjoyed it thoroughly. In general all dishes were well cooked and delicious. Would recommend to come try it. Price is ok and reasonable. Parking is limited beside the road in front of the restaurant.

  • This place we just found walking up the beach from our Hotel Flamingo. Wow what a find. They have 10 of their own fishing boats. The fish and flavours are so fresh and nice, its a character little place, outboard motors and fishing stuff surrounded by many tables. We got a table for 2 at dusk right on the beach front. Great Service and Exceptional Food. Could do with some soft romantic music, a flower and candle of the table etc. Then it would be perfect even tho rustic and very Penang and very uniquely quirky. Great place, highly recommend it.

  • Ages didnt visit tsunami village. Visited last week and we order quite a number of dishes. Personally chili crab was alittle disappointed as it’s too sweet on our liking. But we love the fried sotong and hokkien char. The wok hei is on tip top. Other dishes is averagely not bad.
